The beginings

I woke this morning to find our first little sprouts of the season. I can't believe it is happening so soon!I love spring.

Hubby's Bench

Here's a bench Hubby created for a Christmas present for my brother. He used simple scrap 2x4's, wood stain, scrap fabric, and scrap foam for the cushion.

I couldn't get a really good picture for it as it is already at home in my brother's closet. But I assure you it turned out beautifully and nice and sturdy.
now onto the next project!

a Baby Garden

We've decided to grow a few things this year. We both love gardening, but weren't sure when we were going to be able to start. Well I guess you make it work if it is important to you.We followed this tutorial on how to make newspaper starter pots at the best price... free! Plus you can plant the whole thing when you are ready because the newspaper biodegrades very quickly. All you need is water, some newspapers, and a 15 ounce can.


So far our little garden has cost us 80 cents for the seeds and $3.50 for the potting mix which we still have plenty left to use for the big pots we'll use later. We're big spenders, I know.

A simple cowl

Don't ask me how to pronounce it (i'm new to this crafty thing), but I love this cowl I made for myself. It only took a couple of hours and most of it came together on a drive up to Park City with Hubby.

I had actually forgotten about it for awhile because it has been so warm here, but recently winter has shown up again so I've pulled it out to keep me nice and toasty.

Crooked Coasters

I found the tutorial for these here and had to try them out. They are SO simple and yes, a little crazy but I think they are too cute. And plus how could you go wrong when you love the pattern as much as I do? I've been falling in love with patterns lately. When I visit my local Joann's I literally have to tell myself, "just buy what you came for, nothing more."

How often do you get to do a project when your sewing lines are suppose to be all over the place?

Wrapping Paper

I have been wanting to try this for awhile and a few days ago I realized 1) I needed to send a package 2) I had everything I needed to go ahead and do this

So voila! I did it!Anyway... I think it is super cute and it is very quick and simple.

I used:
An Olive Garden doggie bag (paper)
An old apple lost in my refrigerator (stamp)
Leftover paint from one of Hubby's projects (ink)
An old pasta box (box)

I added stems with a marker because as Hubby put it, the apples just looked like deformed hearts without the stems. Much better now I think.

Hubby's mad skills

My husband happens to know just enough about absolutely everything. Among his plethora of skills apparently includes upholstery.
Recently he re-did my brother's dining room chairs: *These were taken with hubby's phone so please excuse the quality.

Wednesday's Linguine

There's nothing better than the satisfaction of making your own food from scratch and it turning out oh so good. We mixed a cup of flour, 1 large egg, water and salt and then put it through our pasta maker to make this pasta. I've also seen people use a rolling pin and cutting out the pasta by hand with a pizza cutter. To the cooked pasta we added tomato pesto and of course, a bit of parmesan cheese.
